RENOUS, N.B. - A man serving time for the second-degree murder of an 82-year-old woman has died after being found unresponsive in his cell at a New Brunswick prison.

Correctional Service Canada says staff members at the Atlantic Institution in Renous performed CPR after finding 20-year-old Kyle Edmund Scott today.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police and the coroner's office have been notified and Correctional Service Canada is investigating the death, which is protocol.

Scott had been serving an indeterminate sentence at the maximum-security facility since May 5.

He was sentenced after pleading guilty in the October 2013 death of Sarah Kennedy in Richmond Corner near Woodstock.
