A New Brunswick man has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison and a 10-year prohibition of firearms after pleading guilty to four drug charges.

Rémi Duguay, 48, from the Pointe-Canot area was charged with two counts of cocaine trafficking and two counts of possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

Duguay was sentenced in Caraquet Provincial Court on Monday.

Police say the sentence stemmed from New Brunswick RCMP’s Operation J-Touchdown, an investigation targeting cocaine trafficking in the Acadian Peninsula.

Duguay had been held in custody until his plea hearing on Oct. 27, but was released until his sentencing hearing on Nov. 30.
