A man from the Halifax area is facing charges after police seized a large quantity of marijuana during a traffic stop near Havelock, N.B.

New Brunswick RCMP stopped a vehicle on Highway 2 on Tuesday.

They arrested the driver and seized roughly 129 pounds of marijuana from the vehicle.

Police believe the drugs were destined for the Halifax area.  

Joel Lizee, 32, of Lower Sackville is charged with trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking in connection with the seizure.

Lizee made a brief court appearance on Wednesday and was remanded into custody. He is due back in court today.
