Police say a Nova Scotia man is facing nearly 30 charges after a search involving several RCMP units, the military and the provincial power utility led to the seizure of 15 firearms and drugs.

RCMP say 55-year-old Donald Halpenny of Mount Uniacke appeared in Dartmouth provincial court on Friday to face 29 counts of weapons and drug-related charges.

Police say more charges are expected against Halpenny.

Police say the charges stem from a search warrant executed Thursday evening on Old Mines Road in which officers seized 15 long guns and handguns, ammunition and quantities of the drugs Clonazepam and Oxycodone.

The RCMP’s guns and gangs unit led the search, assisted by two RCMP detachments, an RCMP national weapons enforcement team, Environment Department conservation officers, Nova Scotia Power and the Department of National Defence, police say.
