Dozens of Halifax residents did not envision spending their Sunday afternoon trying to figure out who slashed their tires… but that is exactly what happened.

So far, police have received 23 reports of cars with their tires slashed at some point Saturday night on Chebucto Road and on Willow, Dublin and Duncan streets.

But some, like Dan O'Brien, still have not contacted police. He says he is going to leave it to karma.

"Hopefully something will happen that will improve their mentality later on in life,” says O’Brien.

Peter Chehade, another Halifax resident, was driving to his parents place for a family get together when he noticed something was off.

“I was driving down Chebucto Road and I noticed everyone was changing tires. Then I turned around Dublin Street and I spotted more slashed tires,” says Chehade.

One of which was his father's Toyota.

Chehade is optimistic police will make an arrest because his father's neighbour, Michael Joudrey, has a security camera near his front step.

“I have cameras all around this house and there's one right there... and it points kind of to the front steps and I'm hoping it will catch something because there was a car right in front here that had three tires slashed. Hopefully we can catch up with these people," says Joudrey.

He says he just switched computers and has not been able to watch the video yet.

“Northeastern security which runs my security system is coming by Monday to put some software on it and we will give it to police.”

Staff Sergeant Barb Saunders of the Halifax Regional Police says video footage of the incident would be an asset to the investigation.

Police are still asking witnesses to come forward.
