One man is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant and another is in custody after a 62-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped in New Brunswick.

The RCMP received information around 4:30 p.m. Monday that two men had forced another man to leave his home in Drummond.

Police say the alleged victim was placed in the trunk of a car and driven roughly 10 kilometres around 3:30 p.m. Monday. The suspects stopped the vehicle on a dirt road and fled the scene, leaving the man in the trunk, police say.

He managed to escape the vehicle and call for help. He sustained minor injuries that didn’t require medical attention.

Police say their investigation led them to a residence on Undine Road. They contained the area with the assistance of the emergency response team and a K9 unit.

However, they were unable to establish contact with the suspect and, after searching the residence, determined he was not inside.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 43-year-old Gilbert Thériault in connection with the alleged kidnapping.

Thériault is facing charges of using a firearm to kidnap the alleged victim, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, uttering a death threat, injuring the alleged victim’s dog and extortion.

Thériault is described as five-foot-six inches tall and about 120 pounds. He has a tattoo of an eagle on his right bicep.

Police say Thériault shouldn’t be approached and that anyone who spots him should call 911.

The second suspect was arrested in Dartmouth on Thursday.

Parker Jacob Richards, a 37-year-old Nova Scotia man, is facing charges of using a firearm to kidnap the alleged victim, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, uttering a death threat, injuring the alleged victim's dog, extortion and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Richards will remain in custody and is in the process of being transferred back to New Brunswick.

A 28-year-old woman who was with Richards at the time of his arrest was also arrested. She remains in custody but there is no word on possible charges at this time.
