Police are looking for a number of suspects after two separate assaults in downtown Halifax over the past couple of nights.

The first assault happened at about 1:35 a.m. Friday at the corner of Brunswick and Cornwallis streets. Police say a man was assaulted by three or four other men. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and he remains in hospital.

Police say the suspects are all black men in their early 20s.

The second assault happened at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. A man and a woman were walking in the area of Brunswick and Gerrish streets when they were attacked by two suspects. Both were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Police say the suspects in that case are both black males. The first suspect is described as being five feet, seven inches tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a reddish-orange shirt. The second suspect is five feet, nine inches tall with crooked teeth.
