Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating after shots were fired at the front door of a home in Westmount, N.S.

Police responded to the home on Fulton Avenue around 3 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators say the residents reported hearing a loud noise at the front door and, when they went to investigate, they realized the door had been damaged.

Police say it appears the damage is the result of gunshots.

Four people were home at the time of the incident but no one was injured. They told police they didn’t see or hear anyone in the area before or after hearing the shots.

A K9 unit was called to the scene to assist officers but they failed to locate any suspects in the area.

Police say the alleged shooting appears to be an isolated incident and remains under investigation.
