Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect after a man was attacked on a Halifax Transit bus in October.

Officers responded to an assault in progress on a Route 2 Wedgewood bus travelling to the Lacewood Terminal at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29.

Police say the driver noticed a commotion at the rear of the bus and pulled the vehicle over at the corner of Bayers Road and Desmond Avenue.

Officers found a 50-year-old man on the bus suffering from minor injuries.

He told police that, after boarding the bus near the Halifax Shopping Centre, he asked if the man sitting next to him would turn the music coming out of his earphones down.

He said the man became irate and repeatedly hit him in the face. Police say the suspect left the bus on foot after the driver pulled over and was last seen running along Desmond Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s with a skinny build. He was wearing dark jeans, a black and yellow sweatshirt, a black and white ball cap and black sneakers with white soles at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect’s identity is asked to contact police.
