Halifax Regional Police are looking for a suspect after a man was robbed at a bank in Dartmouth Sunday evening.

Police responded to the Dartmouth General Hospital at 11 p.m. after receiving a report that a robbery victim had arrived at the hospital for treatment.

The man told police he had been robbed of his wristwatch and some cash shortly after taking money out of an ATM at the Bank of Montreal on Baker Drive.

As he returned to his car, he said he was approached by a man who demanded cash and his bank card. The suspect then struck the victim in the face several times and threatened him with a handgun.

Police say the victim sustained minor injuries and has since been treated and released from hospital.

The suspect is described as a black man with a heavy build, short dark hair and stubble on his face. He is believed to be in his 30s. He was wearing white sneakers, blue jeans, a blue shirt, a grey zip-up jacket and white gloves at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
