CARAQUET, N.B. -- The RCMP have accused a 39-year-old man in northeastern New Brunswick of sexually assaulting a child.

Investigators with the province's Internet Child Exploitation Unit say computers seized from a residence in Caraquet contain images of child sexual abuse.

The Mounties say the investigation resulted in the rescue of a child who was known to the accused.

The suspect faces charges of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, sexual assault and making available child pornography.

The man cannot be identified because of a court-imposed publication ban.

He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 28 for a bail hearing.
