HALIFAX – The N.S. government has announced that a site for the new school in Bridgetown, N.S. has been selected.
The project, approved by Education and Early Childhood Development minister Karen Casey, will replace the current two current schools in the area.
Premier Stephen McNeil says the new school will be state-of-the-art and will accommodate grades primary to 12.
"Students need modern education facilities to better prepare them to be tomorrow's entrepreneurs, innovators and skilled workers," says McNeil. "I am pleased this new school is a step closer to becoming a reality in Bridgetown. This school will not only be a modern learning space for students, but also a centre for the whole community."
The school’s design will be a collaboration of the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board, and the department of Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal.
Casey says it’s important to ensure all schools are well-equipped for the future.
"I know the school steering team, departments, and board will work together during the next phase to ensure designs meet the needs of the students and community,” says Casey.
The new school was announced in December 2013.
