A newly-licensed driver has been ticketed after he was allegedly caught driving almost twice the speed limit on Nova Scotia’s Highway 102.

Police say an RCMP officer spotted a vehicle travelling 199 km/h in a 100 km/h zone near Lower Sackville around 9:15 p.m. Sunday.

The officer pulled the vehicle over and ticketed the driver for stunting. Police say the 16-year-old Bedford teen had several other teen passengers in the vehicle.

The teen’s licence has been suspended for a week. If convicted, he faces a fine of $2,418 and six points will be assigned to his driving record.
