CHARLOTTETOWN -- The faculty at the University of Prince Edward Island says the school's board of governors is bargaining in bad faith.

The faculty association has filed an unfair labour practice complaint with the Island's Labour Relations Board.

The two sides began bargaining on Feb. 4, but the faculty says that during several meetings the board has not engaged in meaningful discussions about the issues.

It says the school seems intent on creating conditions for a summer lockout.

Faculty president Nola Etkin says they are trying to bargain in good faith, but the board has failed to meet their obligations to do the same.

She says he association will resume negotiations for new collective agreements when the complaint is resolved.
