The Codiac RCMP Memorial Golf Tournament starts Wednesday morning at 10:30 in Moncton with an opening ceremony.

Organizers say the tournament is meant to help the city move on from the police shootings that claimed the lives of three officers in June.

The event is sold-out and is expected to generate a significant contribution to the RCMP Memorial Fund.

Participants include Mayor George LeBlanc, Premier David Alward, Assistant Commissioner Roger Brown and Superintendent Marlene Snowman.

The golfing portion of the event is expected to wrap up around 4:30. That will be followed by dinner, speeches and a cheque presentation.
