ST. FELIX, P.E.I. -- The RCMP say the deaths of a mother and son whose bodies were found earlier this summer in a burning vehicle in western P.E.I. were the result of a murder-suicide.

The Mounties say autopsies on 38-year-old Patricia Hennessey of Stratford and her four-year-old son, Nash Campbell, determined that both died of smoke inhalation.

They also say prescription drugs were found in their systems.

Police and firefighters were called to a report of a Jeep on fire on Martin Road near St. Felix on June 21.

The RCMP say the investigation has determined the fire was not mechanical, and that no one else was involved in the incident.
