The Fletcher family’s effort to commemorate their late son has been an ongoing battle.

Brenda and Robin Fletcher say the roadside memorial they set up for their son, Nicolas Fletcher, who was killed in a head-on collision in December, has been vandalized on more than 20 different occasions.

“Continued on and on with black paint, targets, bulls eyes, inappropriate things,” says Fletcher.

The Fletcher’s say they decided to set up a roadside memorial a few days after the crash. But by April, it was vandalized.

The family figured whoever defaced it didn’t realize it was a memorial to victims of a car crash.

“We placed R.I.P. on it and they painted over that as well,” says Fletcher. “So we then knew what they were doing.”

The family says it’s heartbreaking each time they go back to fix the memorial.

“I hope they stop because those are markers on the side of the road to remind people of how dangerous the roads [are] and for a little respect towards the families of people they lost there,” says Fletcher.

The family is offering a reward for information on who is painting over the memorial.
