A New Brunswick man is facing charges after he allegedly struck two RCMP officers with an off-road vehicle in Perth-Andover.

The officers were on patrol Saturday when they noticed two people on the ATV in a parking lot on Main Street. Police say they weren’t wearing helmets.

When the officers approached, police say the driver fled the scene, hitting a parked car, a police car and the officers. The officers were taken to hospital for minor injuries, treated and released.

Police say the passenger was questioned and released without charges after turning himself in.

The driver, a 35-year-old man from Muniac, N.B., was arrested Sunday and appeared in Grand Falls provincial court on Monday.

Billy Joe Tucker faces charges of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and criminal flight causing bodily harm.

He was released on conditions and is due back in court on May 26.
