A New Brunswick man who was robbed by two men in “bandanas and ninja suits” early Sunday morning says he feared for his life.

Delivery driver Harold Keller, 72, was stabbed a number of times in the fight. He says his injuries could have been much worse.

“I am lucky because they could have put the knife in my neck,” said Keller.

Keller says he was approached by the two men while in his vehicle on Jeannette Street around 12:20 a.m.

The suspects stole Keller’s cash and cellphone.

“The one in the back put (the knife) on my neck,” said Keller. “The guy in front said, ‘Give me your money or your life.’”

Keller didn't want to hand over his $2,000 float, so he tried to fight back

“I struggled for about ten minutes and I took the knife by my hand, and of course, I cut my hand,” he said. “Then the fella in the back stabbed me four times in the thigh and it started to bleed pretty heavy, so that's when I decided to give up the money.”

After the assault, Keller drove himself back to this restaurant in Dieppe where they called police and ambulance.

He spent a few hours in hospital getting stiches, and was then released.

Keller says both men spoke English without any hint of an accent, and they both had a long Rambo-style knife with serrated edges.

Sgt. Andre Pepin of Codiac RCMP says officers are looking for two slim men that are about 5’8”

Keller believes the thieves were targeting him.

“I believe they were probably following me, somehow in a car and followed me to my delivery place,” he said.

The two suspects also took Keller's car keys. Luckily, he had a spare in his pocket.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspects is asked to contact Codiac RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

As for Keller, he says he's going to continue to work, but next time he'll be more careful.
