Police in northern New Brunswick say they have dismantled a major drug trafficking operation in Val d'Amour.

Several RCMP units, along with officers from regional police departments, executed a search warrant at the home of 52-year-old Claude Levesque on Friday.

Police say they seized a "significant" amount of methamphetamine pills, prescription pills, cocaine, marijuana and cash in the bust.

Levesque appeared in Campbellton provincial court to face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana, and possession for the purpose of trafficking Oxycodone.

He remains in custody and is due back in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
