BATHURST, N.B. -- The Crown says a woman has been sentenced to eight months in jail and two years' probation in connection with the death of a 74-year old man who was a resident at her special care home in northern New Brunswick

Crown prosecutor Melanie Poirier-LeBlanc says Patricia Pitre was sentenced Wednesday in the Court of Queen's Bench in Bathurst on a charge of criminal negligence causing death.

She says Joseph Harvey Henry died at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Nov. 4, 2010.

The resident of the Pitre Special Care Home in Pabineau Falls, south of Bathurst, had been admitted to hospital three days earlier.

The 62-year-old Pitre pleaded guilty to the charge last November.
