HALIFAX - Nova Scotia Environment Minister Sterling Belliveau says he intends to run in the next provincial election.

However, Belliveau will have to be nominated in a new riding after his riding of Shelburne was split in two in an electoral boundaries reorganization passed at the end of the fall session of the legislature.

Belliveau says his preference is to run in one of the two ridings that include parts of his old constituency -- Argyle and Queens.

He isn't expressing a preference and says he is exploring all of his options with the respective NDP riding organizations.

Queens is currently held by Belliveau's caucus colleague Vicki Conrad.

Belliveau says while he's talked to Conrad, no decisions have been made.
