A Pictou County man is facing charges after he was allegedly caught driving under the influence twice in less than 24 hours.

Police arrested the man for failing to stop at the scene of an accident after he allegedly fled the scene of a crash on Chapel Street in Pictou, N.S. Saturday afternoon.

Brian Logan MacDonald was also charged with impaired driving. The 48-year-old Central Caribou man was held overnight and released the next morning.

Police say MacDonald was spotted driving again Sunday morning, and he was once again charged with impaired driving.

MacDonald was held overnight and is due to appear in Pictou provincial court Monday to face two counts of impaired driving and one count of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

The Pictou County RCMP say at least one person has been charged with impaired driving every week since April.

"It's troubling to see that people continue to risk their own lives and the lives of others on a regular basis,” says RCMP Sgt. Kevin Dunlevy. “We will continue to focus our attention on education, awareness and enforcement activities and try to take these drivers off the road."
