A Cape Breton man is recovering in a Halifax hospital after he became trapped under a fallen tree for several hours Tuesday.

The 46-year-old forestry worker was working in the Barrachois Mountain area of Cape Breton when the tree he was cutting fell on him around 1:30 p.m.

Paramedics had to travel on an all-terrain vehicle and then on foot to reach the man.

He was airlifted to a Halifax hospital Tuesday night with serious injuries.

The provincial Labour Department is investigating the incident.
