Nova Scotia RCMP are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision in Annapolis County.

Around 12:14 a.m., Saturday morning, Middleton RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision in the 900 block of Highway 10 in Springfield, Annapolis County.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a Hyundai Sedan was travelling south on Highway 10 when the lone driver lost control and crashed in the ditch. 

Members of the New Germany and Springfield Fire Departments extracted the driver who was transported to the South Shore Regional Hospital and was then airlifted to the QEII Hospital.

The 18-year-old Halifax man remains in hospital with serious injuries.

An RCMP collision analyst has been called in to assist and the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
