BRIDGEWATER, N.S. -- A 65-year-old man was taken to a Nova Scotia hospital Friday for treatment of injuries after the roof he was working on collapsed.

Police say they responded to a report of the shed roof collapse at 3:40 p.m. on Bruhm Road in Branch LaHave, about 10 kilometres northwest of Bridgewater.

Investigators say the man was clearing snow off the shed when it collapsed.

He was trapped under the debris but managed to call out for help which was heard by neighbours.

Police say local citizens and RCMP officers were successful in extracting the man from the debris.

He was transported to the South Shore Regional Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
