A Halifax District RCMP officer has been charged with criminal harassment after an incident in December.

Police say Const. John James Robinson allegedly repeatedly communicated with a man both on and off duty between May 1, 2014 and June 19, 2016.

Police say the men were known to each other and the charges arise from relationships outside of the workplace.

The 31-year-old constable worked in Cole Harbour and Lower Sackville during that time.

Criminal harassment includes persistent, unsolicited communication or repeatedly following or watching an individual.
