The NB Liquor Corporation is planning to increase access to alcohol in rural New Brunswick.

The Crown corporation plans to open between five and 15 new agency stores starting this fall. Agency stores are typically located in small towns or villages, and are usually adjacent to convenience stores.

“Right now we’re in different communities looking at where there are potential sales to be made, and potential interest by communities, to see where a good location might be available,” says NB Liquor spokesperson Marcelle Saulnier.

NB Liquor operates more than 70 agency stores already.

The expansion plan is part of a strategy to increase slumping alcohol revenues across the province.
