People in northern parts of New Brunswick are getting ready for what may be a pretty messy weekend.

Although it is not certain exactly where the snow-rain line will be, some residents spent Friday cleaning up their properties just in case.

“Gotta get the leaves now before they become mush,” says resident Dave Didsbury.

As CTV’s Chief Meteorologist Cindy Day has said, a nasty nor'easter is likely to dump a significant amount of snow in northern New Brunswick.

While the storm isn’t predicted to last long, things will be messy for a while.

Municipal crews across the province are dusting off snow removal equipment to get ready for the storm.

“We don’t want to have one of those early storms, so we have all of our salt equipment and we’ll continue with our plow equipment over the next few weeks,” says Fredericton’s Streets and Roads Manager, Mike Walker.

Many New Brunswick cities found themselves over budget after the long, hard winter the region had last year.
