A teenager from North Preston, N.S., is using videos and the Internet to share what she loves about her community with her friends, family and anyone else who wants to watch.

Kardeisha Provo, 17, is a sister, daughter, basketball player and coach. She gets good grades, loves math and science and works with young kids in her spare time.

She's recently added the term "vlogger" to her resume. The videos she makes and posts online have given the teenager a way to express herself.

Everything in my life came from my environment. I want to share that.” Kardeisha said.

As she wades through teenage life growing up in North Preston, N.S., she chronicles her friends, family, and thoughts.

“When you are a teenager you are trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do and it's a lot of noise and a lot of people coming at you with different things and it's hard to navigate your way through,” said Kardeisha.

In her first month she's posted five videos to her YouTube channel. One of the most popular ones is a nine minute interview, where she talks to her mom about her experience as a teenage parent.

She shares her mother's pride for North Preston, and they want others to see their community in a more positive light.

“She is doing an awesome job starting this YouTube channel so that people can see the awesome things that we are doing as a community,” said Kardeisha’s mother, Karen Provo.

Kardeisha hopes sharing her own life lessons will help influence other teens.

“I want it to be real,” she said. “Like real life things and not be so filtered.”

Kind of like the young woman herself.
