Nova Scotia’s Progressive Conservative leader is making his view on fracking clear.

During the Conservatives' annual Leaders Dinner in Halifax Monday night, Jamie Baillie repeatedly hammered away at the McNeil government's ban on shale gas exploration.

Baillie told a packed house of supporters that fracking equals jobs.

"After all, we want to be a ‘have’ province,” said Baillie. “We want to be a province that contributes to this great country, instead of cashing those 'have-not' cheques. I want to be the premier who rips up that very last cheque coming from out west and says, ‘Thank you very much. We’ll take it from here.’”

Baillie says 8,700 jobs have been lost in Nova Scotia since the liberals took power about a year ago.
