HALIFAX -- Nova Scotia's justice minister has officially opened a new forensic laboratory in Halifax.
Ross Landry says the facility in the Burnside business park features advanced green technology and improved security for evidence.
The Dr. William D. Finn Centre for Forensic Medicine is named for Canada's first medical examiner.
Finn is recognized for his expertise during the Halifax Explosion and Titanic disaster.
Landry noted that the facility was completed within budget and on time.
Staff will begin performing autopsies Dec. 10.
