The spread of a flu-like virus and stomach ailments has prompted health officials to impose visitor restrictions on all hospitals and other health facilities in Cape Breton.

The Cape Breton District Health Authority says the restrictions also apply to all community health centres and continuing-care facilities.

Patients are allowed to have two visitors at a time -- but they must be immediate family or next of kin.

Children under the age of 12 will not be allowed to visit.

As well, people who are sick or live with others who are sick should not visit.
