Nova Scotia Power says it will not be applying for a rate increase for next year.

In a news release Tuesday, the power company says since the two three per cent hikes it received in 2012, it has implemented "internal productivity initiatives" to significantly reduce operating costs, so a rate hike for 2015 won't be necessary.

The company also says there'll be no fuel rate increase.

Nova Scotians have complained bitterly about rate hikes for power in recent years.

Less than a month ago, the company revealed CEO Chris Huskilson, got a 54 per cent raise in 2013, giving him a total compensation package worth $4.7 million dollars.
