The RCMP say a 47-year-old P.E.I. man has drowned after he was boating with friends and family Monday evening.

Police received a report of a possible drowning in Indian River, P.E.I. around 9:15 p.m.

Island EMS was already on scene when officers arrived. Police were told the victim could not be revived and had died.

Police say the Kensington man had been boating with friends and family. He dropped the passengers off and was attempting to anchor the boat offshore when he fell in the water.

Police say the man couldn’t swim. His friends and family pulled him from the water and called for an ambulance, but he couldn’t be revived.

Foul play is not suspected.
