Day parole has been granted to a Prince Edward Island man who struck and killed a cyclist two years ago.

Clarence Arnold Moase of Kensington was sentenced to six years behind bars in December 2012 after pleading guilty to drunk driving causing death.

Elizabeth Sovis, 63, of Alberta was hit while cycling with her husband in Hunter River in July 2012.

Moase's blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit at the time of the incident.

The Parole Board of Canada has denied Moase's quest for full parole, saying it would present a risk to society.
