An overnight fire has destroyed a building in Hampton, N.B.

Crews from four Hampton-area fire departments responded to the three-storey building on Main Street around 1 a.m. Friday.

“We landed on scene and there was fire showing on the main floor,” says Deputy Chief Mike Raeburn. “We had crews go into the main floor, second floor and third floor simultaneously to make sure everybody was out and evacuated because at that point the bar was still open.”

The building housed a bar and a Pizza Delight restaurant.

No one was injured but the building was badly damaged and had to be demolished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
