FREDERICTON -- New Brunswick's Point Lepreau nuclear generating station has returned to full reactor power and is providing 660 megawatts of electricity to the provincial electrical grid.

The station had been taken offline on Aug. 7 to repair the turbine system in the non-nuclear section of the station.

The repairs have been completed and the repowering of the facility began on Friday.

The station produces enough electricity to power more than 333,000 homes per year.
