RCMP in New Brunswick have identified a woman who drowned in Elgin on the weekend.
Police responded to a call of a possible drowning at Gibson Falls - a popular swimming spot for local residents and visitors - around 1 p.m. Sunday.
They say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene after her body was pulled from the water.
Police were unable to identify the victim at first and released a statement Tuesday morning asking for the public’s assistance in identifying her.
They have since released another statement identifying her as a 35-year-old Moncton resident. Her name is not being released at this time, pending notification of her family.
Police are still investigating the incident.
