A neighbourhood in Dartmouth was the focus of a police investigation Monday after someone said they heard a gunshot.

Halifax Regional Police say the gunshot was heard in the area of Prince Albert Road and Lawrence Street around 1:20 a.m.

Police say the shot had been fired about 20 minutes before receiving the call.

Witnesses claim they had seen a suspicious man and vehicle in the area during the time, but police have not yet had that confirmed.

Officers and a police dog were on scene much of the day Monday, and were able to confirm that a gun had been fired.

Police say there is no indication of injuries or property damage.

Officers are looking to speak with the driver of a grey/silver pick-up truck that was stopped in the area, and a man seen running toward it described as being black and carrying a duffle bag.
