BRIDGEWATER, N.S. -- RCMP on Nova Scotia's south shore are investigating an apparent head-on collision that has left one person with critical injuries.

Police say the crash between the Toyota Rav4 and the Pontiac G7 happened around 8 p.m. Sunday on Highway 103 in Middlewood, just south of Bridgewater.

They say the Toyota was carrying two adults and the Pontiac was carrying two adults and three children.

Investigators say injuries range in seriousness, with one person's injuries considered critical.

A section of the highway was closed for approximately five hours as RCMP investigated.
