Halifax Regional Police are investigating two separate incidents involving suspicious activity at the city’s busiest bus terminal.
Police were called to the Halifax Transit Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth around 8 p.m. Wednesday after a bus driver reported seeing a young man carrying what appeared to be a weapon.
Officers detained a youth and searched some nearby woods but no weapon was found. The 17-year-old was questioned and released.
The incident comes just two days after a 19-year-old man and 14-year-old boy were allegedly caught trying to sell a sawed-off shotgun at the same bus terminal.
Officers responded to the bridge terminal Monday afternoon and arrested the two suspects without incident.
Police say the officers found a sawed-off shotgun inside a duffle bag the younger suspect had been carrying at the time.
The suspects, both from Dartmouth, each face charges of careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a weapon obtained by commission of an offence, weapons trafficking and possession with the purposes of weapons trafficking.
Police have identified the older suspect as Frederick Schofield.
