Halifax Regional Police are investigating a report that a 10-year-old boy was approached by a man in Dartmouth.

Police say the boy was walking home on Windmill Road, near Albro Lake Road, when he was approached by a man in a truck.

The boy said the man asked if he would help look for his dog, and he would then give the boy a treat.

The boy reported the incident to his mother.

Police responded to the area just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. They checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect or his vehicle, which is described as a black 4x4 truck.

Police say the window was only down a few inches and the windows may have been tinted, so a description of the driver is not available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
