Police are looking for a man who allegedly approached a 10-year-old boy in a Dartmouth bookstore Sunday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police say the incident happened around 1:45 p.m. at the Chapters on Mic Mac Boulevard.

Police say the boy told his father that a man offered to buy him a book if he left the store with him.

When the 10-year-old refused, the man offered him five dollars to go toward buying the book if he would go with him.

The boy then left the area within the bookstore to find his parent. He also noticed the man walk quickly toward the exit doors to the store.

The boy told his father what had happened and both searched the store for the man but he was not located.

Police are looking for a heavy set white man between the ages of 30 and 50 with stubble on his face and brown or grey hair.

The man was wearing a grey sweater and hat at the time.

Officers are asking the man who offered the boy the money or anyone with information on the incident to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
