Police are looking for two suspects after a man was robbed and assaulted on the Halifax Commons Sunday evening.

Police say the man was walking through the Commons around 7:40 p.m. when he was approached by two men who demanded his phone and other items.

The man complied and removed his backpack and dropped it on the ground. Police say the suspects then struck the man with a pipe and a stick several times.

Then they fled the area with the backpack and other items belonging to the alleged victim.

Police checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

The alleged victim sustained minor injuries but did not go to the hospital.

One suspect is five-foot-eight inches.  He was wearing baggy clothing, including a black hoodie with the hood up, and black material on his face.

The second suspect is six-foot-three inches with a thin build. He was wearing a beige jacket with a collar, a black hoodie under the jacket with the hood up.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
