Halifax Regional Police are investigating after a woman was assaulted and a man was stabbed in Dartmouth Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of Pinecrest Drive around 11:20 a.m.

Police say a group of up to eight teens assaulted a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man was stabbed several times when he tried to intervene.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman was not injured.

No arrests have been made and police say the victims are not cooperating with investigators.

“But with the severity of the crime, we investigate even though the victims are not cooperating,” says Const. Pierre Bourdages. “We’ve got other ways to get our information one way or another.”

Police don’t believe the incident was a random act as the victims and suspects are known to one another.

The incident remains under investigation.
