Halifax RCMP say an attempted robbery Tuesday in Hammonds Plains was short-lived after officers descended on two armed suspects.

Police say a 911 call came in around noon on Tuesday from a residence on Yankeetown Road in the Halifax area.

The home’s occupants had been confronted at the door by two men with a firearm when one of them pushed one of the suspects, closed the door and called 911, police said.

The suspects fled in a newer model black pick-up truck but, within minutes of the initial call, multiple RCMP patrol cars converged on the scene, located the suspects in their vehicle and arrested both without incident, police said.

Police say they seized a firearm and took two men, aged 47 and 56 years, into custody.

RCMP say an investigation is underway, assisted by officers from the RCMP forensic unit.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the RCMP at 902-490-5180, or by contacting any RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
