People living in a seniors complex in New Glasgow, N.S., are angry and upset following the discovery of bedbugs in their building.

Resident Camilla Marshall lost $2,500 worth of furniture in May when bedbugs spread from someone's apartment at the Woodbine Crest Seniors Complex.

“I never got a cent back,” said Marshall. “I had to go in debt to replace everything.”

After several worry-free months, residents found out bedbugs were discovered again Tuesday in another part of the building.

Marshall's arms still show the scars from last year's infestation. This new discovery is the last thing she wanted to hear.

“I've been here 22 years this coming November and it's pretty bad when you have to move,” said Marshall.

Cyril Kontuk lives in the apartment next to where last year's infestation began. He's worried about this year, even though he hasn't seen any bedbugs yet.

“Not yet, but I know they're going to be coming sometime this summer,” said Kontuk.

An official with the Eastern Mainland Housing Authority says they can't comment on specific cases, but say when they're made aware of bedbug problems, pest control is called out immediately.

Both Marshall and Kontuk say that's what happened last year, and the problem remains the same.
