The RCMP are working with the Town of Sackville and five local businesses to reward youth who are spotted obeying the law and doing good deeds.

Police say they will be issuing positive tickets to youth who obey safety laws, such as wearing a helmet, or who show pride in their community by picking up garbage, for example.

"Acknowledging positive behaviour in our youth is one way we can demonstrate that interactions with police can be a good thing," said Sackville RCMP Community Program Officer Amélie Jarvis-Lavoie.

"The program gives our youth an opportunity to engage in a comfortable and pleasant way with our members. Developing and building upon a mutual respect between our youth and the police is one way police are taking a pro-active approach to reducing youth crime and encouraging positive behaviour."

The positive tickets are paired with coupons to local businesses supporting the program, including McDonald’s, Kookie Kutter Bakery, Vogue Cinema, the Sackville Save Easy and the Sackville Co-op Food Market.
