SAINT JOHN, N.B. -- The Canadian Red Cross says a fire at an apartment in New Brunswick forced six people and several pets out of the building.

They say the blaze on Monday evening was mostly contained to one apartment in Saint John on Main Street, though the rest of the three-storey building had smoke and water damage.

Two of the six apartments in the building were vacant.

It's not known what caused the fire and the Red Cross says no one was injured.
